Welcome to The Hive, come on in and make yourself at home! We're a unique, beautiful and busy hive ready with a warm welcome and delicious menu to suit the tastes of any visitor. Whether you're here for a brew and a chat or gathering with friends over a bottle of wine and some scrumptious sharing plates, you'll bee right at home here at The Hive.
At the heart of our ethos is a love for sharing - our menu is all about small plates, big flavours, and bringing people together around the table.
Our head chef Adam, along with our great team are here to serve you the highest standard of food, creating taste sensations like no other. We serve the multi-award winning Penningtons tea and coffee in our bistro along with our drinks menu, full of superb wines from around the world, supplied by local merchants Stainton Wines. We've also got a fabulous selection of craft beers on offer from Lake District brewing company, Cumbrian Ales - including our family favourite, Loweswater Gold!
We work closely with Amy and Jack from A&J Fresh Fish. A small business based on Walney Island, they supply us with incredible sustainably caught fish and shellfish. Our beautiful beef comes from Ashlack Hall, a B&B, restaurant & Event space just up the road in Grizebeck. Our honey is supplied by Croft Gardens Honey, taken straight from their hives around the Furness area.
All menus have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. If you have a dietary requirement and would like to discuss this with us prior to your visit, please give us a call or email and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

CURRENT MENUS
Our head chef puts a lot of thought and care into every dish, working hard to create a menu that’s all about fresh, homemade food with the best local ingredients from around Cumbria.
It changes with the seasons, but you’ll always find something tasty - maybe crispy salt cod fritters, flank steak with onion strings, or honey-roast figs. It’s full of flavour, made with care, and perfect for sharing (or not, we don’t judge!)
