Welcome to the Hive! Our story began with a small gift shop on Scott Street in Barrow-in-Furness, where we sold beautiful home and giftware. Inspired by the charm of flea markets and the encouragement of friends, we opened our doors in 2002. With the support of our family and community, our little shop thrived.

But our dream didn't stop there. In 2011, we expanded into a beautiful building across the road on Scott Street, transforming it into Bumblebee at the Hive. Filled with unique and lovely items, it became a special place for our customers and us.

The next step for us was to open a restaurant above the shop… and The Hive buzzed into life! Located at 71-73 Scott Street, our bistro offers a delightful, unique and welcoming dining experience. Whether you're here for a quick brew and a chat or a leisurely meal with friends, you'll feel right at home.

Our head chef Adam and his talented team are dedicated to serving you the highest standard of food. Our menu features professionally crafted dishes, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We proudly serve Penningtons tea and coffee, superb wines from Stainton Wines, and craft beers from Cumbrian Ales, including our favourite, Loweswater Gold.

We work closely with Amy and Jack from A&J Fresh Fish. A small business based on Walney Island, they supply us with incredible sustainably caught fish and shellfish. Our beautiful beef comes from Ashlack Hall, a B&B, restaurant & Event space just up the road in Grizebeck. Our honey is supplied by Croft Gardens Honey, taken straight from their hives around the Furness area.

At the heart of our ethos is a love for sharing - our menu is all about small plates, big flavours, and bringing people together around the table.
